Album Review: Pharmacy: Phase 2

Get ready to go underground with Pharmacy: Phase 2

With the sudden explosion of Electronic Dance Music, it’s no wonder that the underground psy-trance movement is gaining some traction on the EDM scene. And what better way to bring it mainstream with “Pharmacy: Phase 2.” This 14-track album contains tracks from Pharmacy’s best and brightest artist mixed by Jonathan Allyn.

The entire album is surely geared towards ripping the dancefloor with its psy-influenced mix. From the non-stop pulsating beats of Omair Mirza’s “8 Gig,” Fido X’s “Aether,” to high-octane acid leads and shimmering percussions of Christopher Lawrence’s “Faith in the Future” and Sean J Morris’ “Sun Chaser,” you will surely be dancing and losing yourself in the groove. Allyn even added some classic into the mix in Magnus’ “Lifeforce,” Jay Selway & Magnus’ “Big Break” and a 2013 remix of his classic “Taking Sides.”

With Christopher Lawrence mixing Phase 1, Jonathan Allyn surely had some big shoes to fill and he did it very well. With pumping bassline, high tempo samples and dark melodic riffs, Pharmacy: Phase 2 will surely be a great addition to an avid trancer’s collection.
